Why This Machine?

Dense 15mm Indoor Turf, Specified for Sled Push, Sled Pull and Conditioning

Most gyms run sleds on landscaping turf. It grabs, it sinks, and it loses its lane inside a season.

The BullrocK Sled Turf Track is a 15mm, 69,300-density sports turf that BullrocK selected and tested specifically for sled work. Short pile for consistent movement. Dense construction for athlete footing. No infill required.

Available in four ready-to-use lane sizes for compact studios, commercial gyms and performance facilities.

Description

 Measured Sled Resistance

A sled lane has one job: enough resistance to train against, delivered smoothly and repeatably. Too little and the sled skates. Too much and it grabs and stalls.

BullrocK tested this turf under sled load rather than assuming performance from the specification sheet.

Proportionally scaled to a 150kg loaded sled:

Parameter

Approx. Force

Friction Coefficient

Starting Frictionapprox. 36 kgfμ approx. 0.24
Continuous Pullapprox. 30 to 33 kgfμ approx. 0.20 to 0.22

This provides controlled resistance for sled push, sled pull and strength and conditioning work without excessive grabbing or inconsistent movement.

Figures are approximate and based on BullrocK internal testing. Actual resistance varies with sled design, skid material and condition, installation, pile direction and movement speed.

Why 15mm?

The 15mm pile height keeps the track compact and stable under sled movement.

Compared with taller landscaping and football turf, the shorter pile helps:

  • Reduce excessive sled sinking
  • Maintain more consistent movement
  • Provide better athlete footing
  • Reduce unnecessary pile displacement
  • Create a cleaner functional training surface

The dense 69,300 stitches/m² construction gives the track a substantial commercial feel without relying on a high-pile surface.

2m × 12.5m25 sqmMid to large gyms that want a wider training zone, allowing two athletes to train side-by-side or providing additional lateral movement space.
1m × 25m25 sqmFor facilities wanting a longer single sled lane. Can also be trimmed on site to maximise the available floor length.
2m × 25m50 sqmFor larger commercial gyms and performance centres wanting a longer, wider functional training zone. Can be trimmed on site to suit the available space.

Need a shorter lane? Order the next suitable size and trim it on site using a straightedge and a heavy-duty turf or carpet cutter.

Installation: Loose-Laid or Pasted

The track can be used loose-laid or permanently fixed depending on the application.

In either case, the base floor must be flat, clean, dry and firm.

Loose-Laid Installation

Loose-laid installation is usually sufficient when:

  • Installed in a home gym or PT studio
  • Sled usage is moderate
  • The existing floor already provides good grip
  • The turf remains stable through push and pull movements
  • You may want to reposition the lane later

Adhesive Installation

  • We recommend pasting the turf when:
  • Installed in a high-volume commercial gym
  • Sled training is performed frequently
  • Heavier sled loads are used regularly
  • Maximum track stability is required
  • You want a permanent, professional installation

Use a suitable artificial turf flooring adhesive and follow the adhesive manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Lane Sizing and Edge Notes

2m Variants: Longitudinal Joining Seam

The 2m variants may carry an open seam along one longitudinal edge.

This is provided intentionally during turf manufacturing so a second roll can be joined alongside it to create a 4m or wider turf area.

For a standalone 2m lane, the excess seam can simply be trimmed using scissors or a heavy-duty turf cutter.

This is a normal construction feature and does not affect product performance.

1m Variants: Cut Width Tolerance

The 1m variants are cut from the original 2m factory roll by trained technicians.

A dimensional tolerance of approximately ±3mm across the width is normal for manually cut turf and does not affect functional performance.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Vacuum or sweep away loose dust and debris.
  • Brush the pile periodically with a stiff synthetic turf brush.
  • Clean spills with water and a mild detergent.
  • Allow the turf to dry fully before heavy use.
  • Inspect sled skids periodically for sharp edges or burrs.

Avoid harsh solvents, bleach, wire brushes and aggressive cleaning chemicals.

Keeping sled skids smooth and clean is one of the most effective ways to reduce unnecessary turf wear.

Packaging

The turf is supplied rolled, never folded, helping protect the pile and backing during storage and transport.

Original Factory Roll:
2m × 25m | 50 sqm | approx. 146kg

Smaller variants are professionally cut and re-rolled for dispatch.

Warranty:

1-Year Limited Warranty

Covered: Manufacturing defects in the turf construction and backing under normal intended indoor use, including abnormal backing separation.

Expected during normal use: Sled training creates friction by design. Gradual pile compression, visible traffic patterns and changes in appearance over time are normal characteristics of a working sled lane.

Not covered: Damage caused by sharp or damaged sled skids, improper installation, accidental cuts, unsuitable chemicals or abnormal misuse.

Proper installation, regular brushing and smooth sled skids will help maximise the usable life of the track.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The BullrocK Sled Turf Track is intended for indoor sled training without silica sand or rubber infill.

A 1m lane suits limited floor space and straight-line sled push and pull.

A 2m lane provides additional lateral room and is better suited to larger commercial gyms and functional training zones

Yes. The turf was selected and internally tested specifically for sled push and pull applications.

Some pile compression and a visible traffic pattern are normal in any turf subjected to repeated sled movement.

Regular brushing helps lift the fibres and maintain the appearance of the lane.

A 12.5m lane is particularly practical for HYROX-style sled training. Four lengths of a 12.5m track equal 50m, making it easy to structure 50m sled push or pull training without requiring a 50m-long facility.

It also provides a practical balance between training distance and the floor space available in most gyms and studios.

No. BullrocK currently supplies the turf without painted markings.

For a 2m-wide track, a practical option is to add a 30-50mm white centre line to visually divide the lane for two athletes training simultaneously.

This marking can be done locally using suitable synthetic turf line marking paint. We recommend testing the paint on a small section first to check adhesion, finish and flexibility before applying it across the full lane.
