FAQs

Tensile Strength is the maximum load that your bar can support without fracturing or breaking & it is rated in pounds per square inch (PSI).

The whip in the barbell is to allow the lifter to introduce the momentum into their lifts, which should be caused by the bar, & not by them. A skilled lifter makes the use of a whip to propel the weight upward, e.g. During the clean and jerk, they can bounce the bar off their chest and propel the bar up by using the momentum of the bend coming upward into the jerk position. Hence it is desirable in Olympic lifting while not much in powerlifting (some serious deadlifters may disagree) due to which power bars have “No Whip”.

Rotation (Spin): Our Bushings are constructed to provide the optimum (less to moderate) spinning mechanism required for power lifts because powerlifting is consist of vertical push and pulls movements that do not require a high spinning mechanism & on the other hand, the Needle bearings are designed to provide smooth, consistent, and quieter (no noise) spin to match the needs of the weightlifting, i.e., snatch and clean & jerk for lifting maximum load efficiently and reduces the risk of a wrist injury.

Ideal for: If you’re a weightlifter or a CrossFit athlete, you should go with a bar that has Needle Bearings, while If you’re a Powerlifter, you should go with a bar that has bushings.

For many of us, aggressive grip plays an essential factor in our workout performance, so in that case, you will get fond of this Oxide coated bar because this Oxide grip is going to provide you with the best knurl feel that is near to a “Bare steel” experience. To keep this aggressive knurl alive, we need to apply a thin layer of coating, which is achieved by Oxide coating, and it has mild protection against oxidation. But if you can manage the maintenance frequency, then this barbell will be a wise choice.

The Center knurl is an essential factor for squatting, as it helps to keep the bar in place on your back during back squats & on your chest during the front squat.

The IWF (International Weightlifting Federation) specifies the bar must be 28mm for men & 25mm for women & youth, unlike the IPF (International Powerlifting Federation) only specifies the bar must be within 28-29mm grip diameter. Hence our Olympic bars comes with 28mm diameter for men & 25mm barbell for women while Power bars generally come with 29mm diameter, since practically 29mm is more convenient & efficient grip within 28-29mm for bench & squat.

Elsewhere, there are specialised barbells for Squat, Deadlift & curl barbells like EZ curl, straight curl, etc. That may vary anywhere between 28mm to 32mm.

Conclusion: Choosing a suitable bar – if you perform Weightlifting or CrossFit, then go with 28mm (men) or 25mm (women), while if you perform powerlifting, go with 29mm, but in case you want to practice both or you are a recreational lifter you simply choose any of the having diameters between 28-29mm. You may consult with our consultant on choosing the correct bar based on your lifting exercises.

Suggesting the right choice for coating of a barbell is not that straight, but we had made it easy for you; check this link & you will surely find the coating of the barbell that is best suited for you.

The Knurl markings are the 5mm thick circled marking present on the barbell, which is distanced according to IPF or IWF specs.

  • IPF knurl marking is used to recognise the widest grip allowed in the bench press.
  • IWF knurl mark is used to recognise the widest grip allowed in the snatch.

Also, while general strength training, you can use these marking to get the same grip every time by simply finding the best-suited measure for yourself using your fingers.
